a funny sight on our back porch

my new Christmas cup

Every Christmas since we have been married Billy has gotten me one or two Christmas cups as a gift. Now since this is our 34th Christmas since we got married, I have a lot of cups. One story I like to tell on him is about breaking some of my Christmas cups. One year while we were traveling to Mexico from Little Rock, we had packed some of the cups in a car top carrier type thing... I told him I was a little worried about putting the Christmas cups on top because something might happen to them. He assured me they would be fine. However, on the way, somewhere in Oklahoma the wind was really rough and a huge gust of wind hit the van sideways and blew the whole carrier off the top of the van. All the stuff inside was blown all over the interstate and into the field next to it.
I was a bit upset!!!! We spent nearly an hour picking up all that stuff. Every single one of those cups was shattered. Of course Billy felt bad about it and so for several years after that he gave me 4 or 5 or 6 cups for Christmas to make up for it...and sometimes he gave me one in between. Finally, I had so many I begged him to stop buying them. He didn't listen. Still every year he tries to find one he knows I will love and usually he succeeds. I got two of these and a little teapot shaped plate to put teabags on. I love them!

GO HOGS!!!

Billy and the kids were able to go to an Arkansas Razorback ball game last Saturday. FREE TICKETS! how cool was that!!! They had a good time and in spite of the less than successful season this year...they won at this Game. GO HOGS!!

WHOOOOOOO PIG SOOOOOOIIIIEEEEE!!!

I cooked a duck!!

I cooked a duck with sweet and sour sauce.
Since I have never cooked duck before I thought it worthy of a blog.

We also had rice pilaf and asian style veggies with a bit of soy sauce
added. It tasted pretty good.

The part that looks burned really is the sauce caramelized... just in case
you wonder.

Did you know that duck is all dark meat?
yep....just a bit of trivia for you...
